Poppy's Summer Visit

The weekend of Londonderry Homes Day Weekend we were lucky to have Poppy visit.  This visit was a lot of fun and was perfect cause it was filled with one on one time with both grand kids and trips together as a family.

Poppy got in on Friday August 17th.  He headed over and we enjoyed showing him our new home and the kids 'much bigger rooms & HUG backyard'.  We ended up grilling out playing games in the backyard,  Madeline was talking to Poppy non stop about where things were, how to 'do' things and how much she loved him.  Dominic was so excited to show him all his legos and talk about Star Wars.  After dinner we ended up playing a funny ball gamer we made up and baseball.  It was a lot of fun.

The next day when we woke.  Mommy had to run her 23 miles and daddy ran " Old Homes Day 5 K'.  When we returned from running Poppy came with DONUTS!!! We love donuts and apple juice.  Since it was Londonderry Old Homes Day we attended the Parade and festivities.  My dad made a comment the day after he arrived that we live in the suburbs...middle of no where.   I thought that was so funny but I guess its kinda true and we love it.  We left at 9:40 to go over and watch the parade.  It was filled with the school sports teams, LOTS of fire engines/cops and political candidates.  With every 4 people that passed there was a person who threw out candy.  Dominic and Madeline loaded up like it was Halloween.

After the parade we walked around and played games and grabbed as many freebies as possible.  We were really lucky to be 3rd in line to get our faces painted. Madeline had flowers like Elsa from frozen and Dom did Batman.  It started to rain so we have to head home.  When we got home it was time for lunch and Madelines nap.  As she napped.  Dom, dad and  Poppy headed to get some fishing gear.  Poppy was really excited to take Dominic on his 1st fishing trip.  They went to Dicks and purchased a Spider Man fishing box, Iron Man fishing rod and the needed fishing tools.

Later that afternoon when they returned and Madeline woke.  We played memory and with other fund toys (tea party).  Then we thought it would be good since all kids were rested to use this night as our night out.  We went to "Coach Stop"  which is our kids favorite place to eat even though it is not kid friendly per say.  Everyone was well behaved as we colored and played with our toys at the table.

The next day we had planned to have the boys go fishing and mommy took Madeline on a long run.  Around 12:30 we all meet back up at the house and I was really excited to hear all about the fishing adventure went.  The boys ended up trying two different ponds.  Some were more active then others.  I was excited to hear that Dominic really did enjoy the adventure and with Poppys helped there was one fish that was caught.  When i asked him about the fish he smiled ear to ear waiting to show me the picture as Poppy pulled it up on his phone.
After the lunch.  Mommy, Poppy, Madeline and Dominic went to Friendly Farm.  This is in Dublin NH.  We have gone there a few times and it is a lot of fun.  It is a petting farm where there are goats, geese, chickens, cows, rabbits, pigs, horses, donkeys, birds and llamas.  You are able to feed the animals are various area and then they have hands on area where you can feed the babies milk.  Everyone had a blast.  Our favorite part is when we see the goats.  They go crazy.  We enter the pen and Dominic just starts to RUN....RUN.. RUN.  He knows by now that he need to get to the bench before the goats get to him.  Madeline just wants to follow him and grab the food.

The second (kinda a tie) is when we see the chickens.  There is a pen where the baby chicks hang out and eat.  You are able to pick them up (making sure they stay over the bed) to pet.  It can be hard to pick them up at 1st but once you have them they calm down.  If I am able to take pics I like to see what the kids eyes reaction is to what they are doing.  Dominic's 1st time he was just to thrilled.  Now hes not as interested but Madeline is.  Kinda funny.

Then later as we explored the other half was the lambs.  This is a fun area because they just know once you enter they run towards you.  Its fun as the kids try to find different ways to feed then and not get trammeled on

At the end of our time we ALWAYS end up in the store to  buy a new t-shirt.  The kids are growing so fast its a need.

Later that afternoon when we got home we kept it low key.  The kids wanted breakfast for dinner.  One of Mommys favorite things to cook.  We do pancakes, eggs, bacon and toast.

After dinner it was Poppys last night and we wanted to share our newest movie we LOVE.  Oliver & Company.  After the movie was over we said our goodbyes and let Poppy know how much we loved hanging out.

Great Summer Trip Poppy ! we love you !!
