Derry Track has an amazing summer kids event. For 7 weeks on Mondays, from 6-7 kids 3-12 can come and race the HS track at several distances. Madelines age group runs 200 meters and Dominic runs 300 meters. We started the third Monday out of the seven week race schedule. It was so much fun. When we get there, we doante food and then have the kids hang out and run around. About 6:20 pm we start to get in our age brackets and walk to our areas. From there we start to stretch and the coach explains the running process.
The first race we told the kids to run in the inner part of the track, go fast and have fun. The first race for Madeline she did great and was feeling the competition. Madeline came 4th out of 12 girls,
Dominic we learned to make sure his shoes are tyed. He lost one shoe after 10 meters then the same shoe 10 more after. However, in last place he came through and came in 10 out of 14.
The BEST part was of course the surprise encore from Nana and Bampa who was there at the end. I my husband for so many reasons. And I cannot say that enough for who he is and his morals. I am so lucky to have out kids grow up in this great town. You learn, grow and can become a strong athlete with love, support and great suppport.
