For Dominic, their theme was "Safari". So his homework was to make any animal and bring it in. He decided to build a Rhino. We googled a variety of rhinos in order to pick the best one. Dominic enjoyed painting the Rhino and attaching his horns. When I toured the room and saw all the creative projects they did. I enjoyed seeing his eyes get big and explain the story behind each craft. There was one that we actually had just read at home called 'Elmer'. Its about a colorful elephant who wanted to fit in with other elephants and realized that everyone loved him because he was unique and his attitude about loving different people was very special. They also focused on their fine motor skills with different acivitites and lots of math too.
Madeline's class was focusing on the Zoo and being 'wild'. They learned about Zebras, Gorillas, Flamingos, Elephants and many other zoo animals. What they eat, what colors they are and how they live. Madeline is starting to get to know her colors, counting shes has already been doing a great job (Can count to 15), the noises the animals she repeats a lot when we sing 'old McDonald'.
In Madelines room they focused on colors and fine motor skills with art crafts too.
