This summer both kids stayed home and went to camp for one week. This was such a treat because every year Dominic would attend camp and Madeline was young so she would continue with school year round. Since COVID we kept them home but let them go to camp at the YMCA since it is outside. This was the first year Madeline could attend YMCA camp because you must be 5 or older (heading into Kindergarten).
Dom got out of school June 18th. We celebrated with a 'Fort Night' Llama pinote and it was hard to break. Dom had the first hit, Maddy then back to Dom and I think he knew his sister would have the final break so he really took a POWERFUL hit and BAM! The Llama broke open with a whole bunch of 'Fort Night' bags with special goodies inside. The next few hours Dominic and Madeline opened all the bags and started to set up the army men and play. That weekend was filled with a REALLY HOT day and called for the pool time at Nanas. We broke out the googles, whale and all the pool toy crazieness it was so much fun. THe weekend was filled with giigles, hard core ab laughing and hugs non stop. That Sunday daddy and Dominic had a special day planned. Dominic climbed his first mountain with Dad. The mountain was Mt. Monadock. They left early and only took them just over three hours to climb up and down. Dad sad Dominic was a trooper and loved every adventure up/around each corner. He was up for anything. There was a smile the whole time.
An other summer ritual we tend to attend is the 'Music on the Common". This is where we attend music event from 6:30-8 with live music. We bring picnic dinner, drinks and desert BUT sometime mommy brings $$ for the ice cream truck.
Wednesday June 23rd was Madeline screening for Moose Hill and boy was she so excited. She was all set to go in by herself and when she was done. She asked the teacher why she had to wait and not start school today. The teacher laughed and said that is was summer time and the 1st day of school will be here before you know it.
The rest of the June, I played hooky and we went to Friendly Farm. Sadly, last year we did not head to the farm so we were really excited to get there and saw all of the new upgrades they had made. Bigger chicken coops, more chickens roamding, new sheep, chicks and had four peacocks. The peacocks were all male and there were two white and two blue. They were so load and very social. We tend to spend the most time with the chicks, playing and petting them. We still did this but when we saw the older chicks on the other side of the barn, thats where if got real. We must have spent at least an hour running around, playing and catching them. There were about 10 kids having a blast, laughing and swaping out chick for chick.
Later in the afternoon we made it to the back part of the farm where the horses were, pigs, llamas and pigs. This is a larger field where the animals are to roam freely and loves to be pet. And every year either Dom or Maddy get swarmed with the sheep and you cannot find them, its so cute. You hear the screams but there screams of laugher and or not this again.
After June we started to get creative and looked up new parks to head to. We would even hit up two parks after work some days and made so many new friends. Some cool new parts were Griffin Park, Wonderland and more areas of Benson and Twin Bridges.
This year for July 4th we were lucky and had a very special visit from the Fredericks. Cory is away serving and Ericka and Charollete (aka Charlie) was in NH visiting family for a few weeks and we hung out a few days. On the 4th we went to Merrimack parade and then Twin Bridges Park. This year becasue of COVID they did not have the carnival or throw candy but the kids had a blast watching the parade and all the fun crazy clowns and animal characters. We were really lucky because it was suppose to rain but held off till that night. After about two hours we wrapped it up and headed to the park. The kids had a blast and ran around. After about 2 hours we hit up the trails and headed to the stream to catch fish and crawl fish. Unfortualy, this trip there were non but we always have a great time playing in the water and making new friends.
The following day we were able to meet up again at our house and have the kids play outside and get our craft on. The girls enjoyed the time together and it was fun to watch them. Madeline is very energetic and not shy. Charolette is a little bit more quite and Madeline just wants to play play play. After about 30 minutes the girls were just great.
