Dominic has had his motorcycle for a few months now and has been able to go forward but NOW, he is a pro at driving and turning the wheels. We are still working on the reverse, but almost have it down. He also enjoyed showing Poppy his "Shop" which is in our basement next to his work bench. Dominic will turn over the bike and start to work on it. He LOVES to use his drill and hammer. Overall, we had a great visit and cherished every moment.
Dominic has always been a very observant child and as he gets older, he is voicing all these little things he has picked up on. Such as, when he is working on his cars or trains he informs us what hes doing and why. I also love how he includes the sounds such as the drill or hammer as hes playing(even though we can clearly hear the hammer noise).
We also have been getting our hands dirty with outside gardening, puddle jumping, markers and painting. Mommy loves to color and paint with Dominic because its fun to see how much he has gotten better at drawing shapes and staying in the lines. I have also been working more with the basic colors (blue, red, green, yellow and orange). He is great with orange and red but many times things are just BLUE.
As the weather has gotten warmer and snow has melted, Dominic was able to ride his bike outside. For his 2nd birthday mommy and daddy got Dominic a toddler bike with his own "Spider man" helmet. We started off with rides in our driveway but that was to restricting, so he said. So than we hit the streets and rode around the neighborhood with Ellie. It took some time with the steering, but hes getting the hang of when to go straight and turn left or right.
Dominic took his 1st trip to the ocean on May 28th to Wallis Sands Beach in Rye, NH. It was still early for the water to be warm enough to get in so we put our feet in the water. We also started to chase the waves and be chased too. It was fun and Dominic screamed with excitement. You may know already that Dominic loves birds too, so it was quite a treat to see all the seagulls and try to catch them. No, Dominic was never really close to touching them but that did not stop him from trying. Dominic LOVED the sand and creating crazy castles and sea creatures out of sand molds. It took some time for him to get the concept down on how to pack the sand and flip the castle.
Overall, these past few months Dominic still loves to ask questions, but now he even explains how certain things work or what is happening. For example, with his train set he likes to say when Thomas is going up the hill and over the bridge to get the coal or taking his airplanes and flying them around the room saying "were going to save peoples" and makes the airplane noises. One of my favorite things he does is "hide and seek" from Ellie. He yells what were about to do and we hide with a "shhhhhhh no Ellie right?". His imagination has grown so much and I love to just sit back and watch it flourish. Reading is something that we LOVE to do in the Ambrose house and from our friends and family, our construction book collection has grown. Any where we go and see the construction trucks, Dominic now tells us which truck it is and what it does.
June 15th Dominic will be starting at World Academy and we are very excited. The classrooms are smaller and he will get more individual attention. I am hoping he will have a easy transition but we shall see. He has been doing really good with his potty training and getting comfortable. He will go at least once day whether at school or home. I feel that with room set up in the new school he will get better and going more and see the other kids going and with his curiosity things will go smoothly. I love Humpty Dumpy and Dominic has had such a wonderful experience there and we will miss it so much. I have been so lucky to have them keep a journal about Dominic's first 2 years there and will cherish those memories. Here is to a new beginning and new friends.
