So there has been so much these 2 little peanuts have been up to the past few months. I accidently forgot to write about one of Madeline's firsts. Mommy thought it would be a good time for Madeline to take swim classes since she LOVES the water.
We took a 7-week session at the YMCA back in February, and Madeline had a blast. The kid's her class ranged from 6 months to 2 years old. All the kids were at different levels when it came to swimming, but they all loved the water. Her teacher was named Kevin and was very attentive to all the kids.
The beginning of each class, we all sang the 'hello' song. As we sang this song, we kick our feet and wave to each other. After his song, we work on a variety of swimming techniques by using fun games. Once game Madeline loved was playing with the floaty toys. Kevin would take about 30 toys and scatter them all over the pool. We try to teach the kids to get comfortable with being in the water, kicking, and moving their arms so they are swimming to the floaties. Madeline was a pro and she would try to grab at least 3 toys and bring them back to the bucket. Her second favorite game was 'Humpty Dumpty'. She would swim towards the wall and then climb up. Once were on the wall standing. We all sing the 'Humpty Dumpty' song and fall in the water. I would to let Madeline jump in and go under so she would be comfortable with getting wet. She would then laugh, and then try to swim back and do it again.

About halfway through the 7-week sessions. The teacher thought it was time to submerged the kids (if they felt comfortable). The parents would go under 1st and then the second time they would go under with their child. When they do this. It is important for the parent to keep their eyes open. The reason for this is because the child does not think to close their eyes underwater and if they see you do this, they will follow. It is their natural instinct not to close their eyes. We were ready for this next adventure and Madeline did great. She was happy as can be during the whole process. I was very pleased and happy that she was so comfortable.
Overall, the swimming class was a success and I cannot wait till summer time and go to Nana and Bampas pool. Ready or not here comes the not just one but two Ambrose fishes.
