Tickle ~ Tickle and non stop running

The past few weeks Dominic has been attending his Saturday class at the YMCA, Leaping Lions. The first day of class was so much fun and Dominic was the only one who would not want to sit down at circle time which consisted of stretch  and singing.  All he wanted to do was run around and play with all the cool new toys.  The teacher assured me that this would pass and he will settle down.  She was right and after that first class, Dominic has been participating in circle time that consists of stretching, jumping and touch our eyes, ears and much more.  Since he has started the class he has learned how to; do a forward roll all by himself, swing and land on the ground, jump all by himself off blocks (with supervision), jumping like a frog and working on backwards roll.  I am so proud of him and the confidence he is building within himself.

Now that it is is dark earlier. Dominic sometimes has some extra energy and we cannot go to the park anymore.  Mommy has been taking Dominic to the indoor pool about 2-3 times a week.  He LOVES his pool time.  Dominic has been doing really well. Now Dominic wants to go in the big boy deep end with his "frog life saver" and swim around.  He likes to watch the other swimmers in the lap lane and then try to mimic their "kick-kick" and arm motions to swim.  After a few minutes, you hear Dominic's voice echoing "i swimming i swimming, kick kick".  All the life guards just laugh and think its really cute.  They especially love when he wears his life guard swim suite.  The past few weeks, Dominic has been jumping a lot off the floor or even steps.  I have been helping him work towards wanting to jump off the side in the deeper end.  I have been successful several times but he has not committed to do this all the time.  I have been working with him at home jumping off his little stool in mommy's arms and that has been a home run.  I am hoping the next week or so he will carry this action over to the pool.

When were in the pool, we have also work on our counting. When Dominic is in the water he likes to walk the wall with his hands and count up to 10.  He has been counting for awhile now but  now he is more clear in saying the numbers.  We also like to push off the side and float on our backs.

The past few months mommy and daddy have been very open about "Potty Time" and getting Dominic comfortable.  Just working with him on talking about when he may need to go or "feel" when he may need to potty.  This past weekend he would go number 2 in his diaper then say "potty time" in which we would then sit and read MANY MANY books and he would pee.  He did this 2-3 times over the weekend which we were really proud of him.  I know this is just the beginning but we did not want to discourage any positive action to being potty trained.

We are considering opening up a library at the Ambrose house.  Dominic loves to read as you know and now hes been reading a lot more to mommy and daddy.  Pointing out all his favorite friends and even repeating or joining in the words as mommy or daddy reads.  Yes that is how much we tend to read the same story but we do love it.

Other then playing with our blocks, cars and puzzles.  I noticed the other day Dominic was playing with his Melisa and Doug toy where you put the pieces together but coordinate them by shape and color.  As mommy was sitting back he did it all him self with no help.  He was being silly because he would say "this go here, noooo, here, noo" then put it in the right spot. So maybe he wont be color blind like daddy  :-)

To get in the Holiday Spirit, Dominic got creative and decorated gingerbread houses (yes it was a pack of 4 ya-ya mommy).  He really enjoyed this and it was a little messy but he seemed to be okay with that. Dominic does not like to have sticky hands or get messy.  I found after I would ice areas of the house, icing ended up on his lips...hmmmmm.

(yes that is icing on his lip)

Grandma visits from the South

It has become an annual tradition for my mom, Grandma Sanner, to come and visit Dominic at the end of October.  This is a wonderful time of the year in New England where we fill our time with being outside and get to visit Macs Apples Orchard.

Dominic and Grandma Sanner's time was filled with outings to Benson Park, long walks with Ellie, playing at home with all of Dom's fun toys, Frederick's 3rd birthday party and story time.  I also just signed up Dominic for Leaping Lions at the YMCA and that was a lot of fun to see him go wild and crazy.

Dominic attended his cousin Frederick's 3rd birthday party at Cowabunga's which is an Indoor Inflatable Playground in Hooksett, NH.  All the kids at the birthday had a blast with running around, playing with toy blocks, blow up slides and much more.  Dominic played with all of his cousins and they had a blast together.  All of the cousins are at an age where they play together, give kisses and share.  This year was a big birthday for Frederick.  He got a big boy bike and a helmet.
Frederick was so sweet, and he and Dominic took turns with the bike AFTER the birthday boy was pushed around.

On Sunday before Halloween we ran our annual 5K race and this year they had Fire Engine and a kids 1K.  It was so fun to see his face light up and run around with Grandma.  Boy is he fast she would say as he ran and jumps into all the big puddles.

This year was Dominic's second time pumpkin picking at Mac's Apples and he loves to walk through the fields and get dirty.  This year, we were able to get a wheel barrel and he really enjoyed riding in it.  This year Dominic was old enough to pick out his own pumpkin and mommy helped him carve a scary face.  Dominic was excited UNTIL he touched the guts inside and then he was not so enthused.

For Halloween Dominic was Elmo and we went trick er treating around our neighborhood.  He was very good and enjoyed our stroll around the block until he saw a few big kids with scary masks.  When we returned home Dominic ended up handing out candy to all the kids who came to our home.  We would open the door and at the same time Dominic and the kids would say "Trick er Treat"!!

Some of the fun things Dominic is doing now that just make mommy & daddy smile:

- He says "i do that, I do too, no thank you, bless you (when you sneeze), watch Elmo (several times in a row), okay mommy, birdie tweet tweet, look at kitty- kitty meow" and so many more words.
- He sings so many random songs he hears on the radio and from school.  He does not always says the words but he'll hum the rhythm.
- Getting so much better at kicking the soccer ball.
- LOVES to read his books all by himself.  Since Mommy has been reading to him he remembers the various parts of the story and reads out loud.
- Helps mommy put away the dishes and help with the laundry.  From cleaning to these little chores I am a happy mommy

This is happening....

I cannot believe my little boy is almost 2.  These past 2 years have been so fun to watch him grown and become a toddler.  Dominic continues to surprise me with all the little things he picks up on when mom and dad aren't looking.

Some of Dominic's favorite things to do now are:

  • Tickle anyone and anything; it will be quiet then all the sudden he comes up to you and says "tickle tickle".
  • When we play with our legos ; he will put several blocks together and say "look what I did".
  • He attempts to sing the A-B-C song  now and tries to keep in sync with the rhythm of the song.  He does a pretty good job!
  • He is a pro at making the "itsy bitsy spider" with his hands and he has even added a little butt shake.
  • When we are out running errands and he gets a little out hand all I need to do is start singing our song, "Walking Walking". He starts to act out the moves and settles down.  Its so cute when he tries to tip toe and then when he tries to run
  • Since daddy loves to watch soccer with Dominic, Dominic has started to sing some of the chants the fans sing.  One of his favorites is "olah olah olah".
  • Dominic likes to point in his book of objects and ask me "whats this". Then I reply and he will let me know if I am right or wrong.
  • He LOVEs to clean up after himself and sweep the floors.  I am totally okay with this.
  • Elle loves to play ball and when she gives Dominic the ball, Dominic will sometimes throw the ball back.  Other times he will be sneaky and hide the ball.  Dominic thinks its the funniest thing and loves when Ellie finds the ball then starts hiding it all over again.
  • Dominic enjoys dancing and shaking his bum.
  • Puddle jumping is one of his rainy day highlights. He can even say the word puddle which I love.
  • He is a typical boy and really enjoys his trucks, building blocks, cars, playing outside and sports.

October should be a fun month filled with fun trips to Macs Apples to go apple and pumpkin picking,  Fire Department going over fire safety at schools, carving pumpkins and Grandmas visit.
