SWIMMING with my new friends

POOL TIME at Nanas and Bampas with my new style ladies

Last week Dominic started swimming classes at the YMCA.  The kids ages range from 6 months (Dominic being the youngest) to 2 years old. He has been in the water before and loves it but I thought it would be good to swim with kiddies his own age and learn some MORE new toddler songs… cannot get enough of the singing.

One of his favorites is when we sing Humpty Dumpty Sat on the wall then fall into the pool and swim to the center of the pool and back.  He loved watching the other kiddies as I was carrying him around BUT his favorite game was with the ducky’s.  The teacher would throw the ducks around the pool and we would go get them and place them back in the bucket.  Dominic was so fast picking up the ducks and putting them back,  I was surprised he gave them up so easily.

*This is the video from Dominic getting his "attempt" to crawl

After several failed attempts to feed Dominic cereal and oatmeal, we decided to go sweeter and try apples and sweet potatoes. He loved them both.  I am now starting to sneak in the rice cereal which he has not noticed yet.

Dominic is LOVING his play jumper that we got him about a month ago. We started him in it for 15 minutes and now he plays up to 45 minutes, the lights and animals that are hanging all around keep him so busy. He is reaching for everything and just such a curious little thing, I LOVE it.  His second new favorite toy is what I call the “peek-a-boo” box.  Where Dominic pushes the buttons (sometimes with moms help) and then closes them all by himself and it is so amazing to watch him develop theses

Things are HEATING up in JULY

June was a busy month for Dominic.  June 3-11th we were visited by Grandma which was such a treat.  Donna and John went to Yellow Stone and Grandma was able to come and PLAY.  This time was filled with one on one time with her 1st grand baby. During this visit they did a LOT of belly time and reading.  Dominic loved to help turn the pages and gab. Unfortunately, this was also the week mommy and Dominic got sick.  Temperature with the runny nose and lots of cuddling which I LOVED but I have never seen such a ‘happy sick” baby before Dominic.

Dominic has really been such a curious little boy and wanting to touch everything.  I am trying not to say “N-O” so much since it’s my natural instinct but it’s hard.  The good thing that has come with the eagerness of grabbing things on his belly, is that the wheels have started and we might have a crawler soon.  One of his new fascinations is Peppers tail as she wags it back and forth.  One afternoon pepper was on the bed and Dominic had just been feed and his diaper changed AKA really happy boy.  Then he sees Pepper’s tail and rolls over and starts to attempt to crawl and do his little head and belly move which looks like the “caterpillar dance” move.

We did have our 1st road trip to visit Auntie Anne & Uncle Tom.  We ended up splitting the trip for Dominic and he did a great job.  The ride was filled with Daddy singing, reading, peek-a-boo and playing with his toys.  The 1st night we crashed in Meriden CT and celebrated our 3 year anniversary with presents and Dominic and I surprised Mark with cupcakes we made the night before.  When we were getting ready for bed and it was Dominic’s 1st time sleeping in the pack-N-play, things seemed great until Dominic continued to wake during the night.  Dominic likes to have something touching the top of his head and we learned our lesson NOT to leave the extra blanket in the car.

The next day we rose and finished out road trip to Philly and see Auntie Anne & Uncle Tom along with Vietri and Mocha (their long hair Chihuahua. While we were in Philly we spent some quality time with family and did lots of exploring.  We went to Downtown Philly and saw Benjamin Franklin’s Printing Press, Constitution Hall, the Liberty Bell, Betsy Ross’s house and the oldest “unchanged” street in America.  The next day we went to the Philadelphia Zoo and saw so many animals and little kiddies running around.  Dominic LOVED watching the monkeys and gorillas (just like his daddy) play around.  During this visit we introduced the “Sippy cup”.  Dominic still is still working on the holding with both hands but he is getting the hang of it. He can grab it with both hands and then LOVES to bang it and make noise when he is done sipping water.

July 3rd Dominic turned 6 months old and he had a wonderful checkup at 23” long and 16.4lbs.  He is rolling over really well and hand eye coordination is great.  We are working on introducing rice cereal and Dominic is still getting used to it.  We will keep at it the next few days and see if it gets any better.  I am letting him play with the spoon and he is trying to feed himself.
